20th Anniversary Trip

Whitley and I celebrated 20 years on May 15th, 2019 and were able to go on a special trip.  Both my parents and Whitley's parents spent some time in the Ft. Davis area while on their honeymoons- Whit's parents in 1968, my parents in 1974.  So in 2019 we decided to see what all the hubbub was about!

We ate at KD's Bar-B-Q in Midland on the way there.

Yes, Sarah was still way attached to mama in May and we got in lots of "spoil Sarah" time
which was a joy as you will see!

We enjoyed taking in all the sights to see that the
Ft. Davis area of Texas had to offer...

Picked for me by my love...

We stayed at Indian Lodge State Park, in one of the original rooms of the adobe inn that my parents
stayed in for their honeymoon in 1974.

We enjoyed great food and some live music one evening.

Ice Cream!

We ate our breakfasts at the lodge's cafe.
Whitley's background at the cafe is some of the adobe inns like the one we stayed in.

By the way... Sarah was and IS so adorable wearing all of her many pleasant faces...

On our last full day every time I turned around Whitley was giving me another sweet card.  He spoiled me big time!

We also enjoyed visiting the fort...

some of the hills surrounding the fort

And very fine dining that evening!

Our anniversary is on May 15th, but this particular evening we were actually celebrating that 20th anniversary the day before Mother's Day, on May 10th.  Becoming parents, the joys and the heartaches, the blessings of the Lord upon our family, has filled the past 20 years!  Whitley's gift, designed by his beautiful, sweet cousin Jan Lee Zumwalt, was a family necklace and bracelet set.  Each jewel, 13 in all, is represented by children who've been born to us, and babies we have lost as well who didn't get a birthstone color.  They are represented there as the heart jewels and all of the jewels are in the order our sweet ones came to us in.  Much thought and time was given to this gift and we thank Jan Lee so much for assisting Whitley in making this a reality.  We actually need to add one more little heart, as we lost another one this past August.  Maybe some day we will have it added on here.

Such a wonderful evening!

We visited McDonald Observatory on the way home and got some gifts for the kiddos at home.  We really missed them while we were there because we knew they'd have enjoyed it.  Maybe next time!

Love from our family to you and yours!
